Using a Free Corpus Tool for Time-efficient Feedback on English as a Foreign Language reports

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners often struggle with some of the elements and features text composition, such conventions, socio-cultural aspects like hedging, degree formality or synonyms. This paper aims to provide, by way exemplification, application corpus-aided technique that helps teachers determine whether general task completion has been achieved in order identify learners’ deficiencies writing. method was employed consider lexical range (i.e. synonyms), cohesive devices hedging strategies, including modal verbs, participants’ written outputs, total 93, higher education EFL classroom. To this end, tool LexTutor (Cobb n.d.) used explore corpus. The data gathered have analysed following quantitative approach. Findings indicate that, on average, productions met indications instructions. Nevertheless, there tendency use lower-level simpler structures words rather than opting for language exploration, thus prioritising accuracy. present study raises possibility can offer class feedback students’ promptly efficiently.
